A little nook

Throughout July, I am participating in the #SummerMiniFun event on Instagram, hosted by Vintage Dollhouse Shop. I’ll be sharing my posts here on this blog, so I can have an archive to look back on.

Day 14-A Little Nook

A little nook for Domino the Destitute.

My heart broke when my dance teacher leaned on the edge of my couch and snapped the legs off. I grew up on that couch; it had been in my grandparent’s house. Bro, you just broke a batch of memories.

I had myself a good cry, then realized what a great opportunity it was to transform the couch into something new.

I thought I’d tear the fabric up and incorporate it into future projects, and started using the cushions as bolsters for flexibility training, and Domino found new beds.

While moving the cushions around the house for various new functions, I found a great fit on top of a cat scratcher that had also broken.

Now, when I look over at that little nook, I can’t help but smile. What seemed like broken was an opportunity in disguise.

Today’s prompt for #summerminifun with @vintagedollhouseshop is a little nook. I’ve got a slew of actual book nook crafts floating up in my mind, and cat food boxes to put them in. Hopefully one day soon, I’ll give them the time to become real. 📚
