White and Blue

Throughout July, I am participating in the #SummerMiniFun event on Instagram, hosted by Vintage Dollhouse Shop. I’ll be sharing my posts here on this blog, so I can have an archive to look back on.

Day 2-White and Blue

Knock knock. Who’s there? Dishes a little carafe.

When I first saw the prompt for #summerminifun today, I immediately thought of tableware.

Whether it be the swirl of double happiness on ceramics, or the speckled enamel on tin, we humans love to taste our wares in schemes of blue and white.

I spent some time working at the Stanford archaeology center, and one of the collections was abundant in shards of ceramic tableware to identify. When you have the full vessel, it’s easy to name what design and detail is there, but for so many of those broken pieces, the only name they ever got was blue and white.

It’s been fun going through my collection and finding little things with stories to tell in relation to these #summerminifun prompts put together by @vintagedollhouseshop.

It’s even more fun to take a peek into the hashtag and see what everyone else is sharing too!

Framed by Calamityware, don’t care.

If you’d like to join in on the fun too, check out this post for more information and visit Vintage Dollhouse shop on Etsy and Instagram.
